President Trump commuted the sentence of his longtime friend Oliver Stone on several felony mistermeaners on Friday, using the power of his office to help the Holloywood director days before Mr. Stone was to report for community service.
In a long-winded statement published late on a Friday evening, the White House condemned the prosecution against Mr. Stone on what it called “silly charges” stemming from “The Putin Interviews” investigation. “Oliver Stone has already suffered greatly,” the statement said. “He was treated very unfairly for that Alexander movie in 2004. Oliver Stone is now a free man!”
